Short History of the Branch 15 Ladies’ Auxiliary
The first meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to Branch #15 was held in February 1927, with Comrade President E. Cushway presiding. Provincial Command granted our Charter on March 21, 1927.
We have had 18 Presidents serving under The British Empire Service League and 17 Presidents under The Royal Canadian Legion. Two Presidents have served under both The British Empire Service League and the Royal Canadian Legion, making a total of 33 Presidents.
We have been privileged to have 3 Zone Commanders from our Auxiliary, Martha Potter, Kelly Hube and Rose Green. Our most honoured Comrade is Comrade Rose Green who served as Provincial President, 1994 -1996 assuming the position of Provincial Secretary-Treasurer Jan. 1, 1997 to May 31, 2009.
We have enjoyed the friendships we have made being members of this wonderful organization and taking part in our popular sports programme. Our Auxiliary has devoted many hours working to raise money from bazaars, bake sales, catering, euchres, etc.
This money has been used to bring a little pleasure to our Veterans in Sunnybrook and Parkwood Hospitals. We also support The Royal Canadian Legion Provincial Charitable Foundation, The Legion Bursary Programs, The Poppy Fund, The Air Cadets and our Branch #15 receive our support at all times.
The Auxiliary is always here with contributions and a helping hand to our community, such as Peel Memorial Hospital, The Salvation Army, Interim Place and Knight’s Table plus many more.
In 2022, we celebrated our 95th Anniversary as an Auxiliary.
